At Gatherwell we make lotteries easy for national governing bodies and sports organisations. You’ll be up and running before you know it, and raising thousands of pounds for you and your affiliated clubs.

Step 1: Kick off your lottery

Gatherwell will create an online lottery dedicated to your national governing body. We’ll work with you on all the fine details such as the lottery licence application, and will support you to gain endorsement from across your organisation.

Step 2: Attract organisations

Once your lottery is launched, it’s time to let your affiliated clubs know. Simply reach out to them using the templates we provide, and encourage them to create their own page within your lottery site.

Step 3: Encourage supporters

Now you have your clubs on board, it’s time to start fundraising! Supporters can purchase a ticket for just £1 for their chance to win the £25,000 jackpot and other cash prizes.

We work hard to ensure funds raised go back to the good causes they were intended for. Up to 63.6% of funds raised go directly to you and your member organisations, which is almost double what other lotteries provide.

How much does it cost to set up a lottery?

We make it easy for national governing bodies to set up a lottery. We charge a small one-off fee to see you through the setup process. When everything is up and running, ongoing charges are based on a percentage of ticket sales.

How much money goes back to the community?

We’re passionate about ensuring that fundraising pounds go back to the cause they were intended for. With a sports lottery, up to 63% of all funds raised go back to the cause. The individual sports club or team keeps 50% of ticket sales generated through their individual page, and 10% can be directed into a central fund to be used by the governing body as they see fit. This is almost double the amount given back by other national lottery providers.

Do I need a gambling licence?

Gatherwell will guide you through the application process for the relevant licence. We make the process easy and painless, and provide all the relevant documentation and advice you need.

How do the prizes work?

Most sports organisations choose to run their lottery with a prize model of £25,0000 jackpot and odd-based winners. We can also offer other, flexible prize structures as needed. Non-cash prizes such as holidays, vouchers or experiences can be included in the prize structure, as well as any prizes from your corporate partners. There is no risk to you or any of the causes to cover any of the prizes.

Who runs the lottery?

You will retain oversight and governance of your lottery, while Gatherwell takes care of day-to-day lottery operations for you. We also manage the prize fund and the jackpot.

How much ongoing work is involved?

We work hard to ensure the administrative burden for the national governing body is relatively low. Once the lottery is set up, sports organisations need to promote the lottery using the materials provided, approve clubs as they apply, and authorise monthly cause payments and a lottery return to your licensing authority.

Can lotteries cause problem gambling?

Charity lotteries or “incentivised giving programs” are considered low risk in terms of contributing to problem gambling. Several research studies support this.
